It's gonna be what it is

It’s been a fun run. I can definitely say that I’ve met some of the coolest people on tumblr, and honestly? I feel like I have a newfound love for my generation. It sounds silly, but sometimes the tumblr community will highlight the very best parts of us.

Sure, we like to point out all the horrible memes and arguments going on here, but there’s a lot of good - like, ridiculous amounts of good - and that’s, well, good.

Thing is, my time on tumblr has come to an end (or well, non-work-related-tubmlr-me has come to an end). I love the Mass Effect community, but I don’t think I have much creative to contribute anymore. That, and I’m swamped with work. As in; I’m literally drowning in paperwork and deadlines. I’m swimming through endless piles of paper in my office and the papercuts are seriously nasty.

And rather than abadoning my account I figured I’d write something, because I love all of you. Seriously. This one is grateful to have gotten to know so many amazing people.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that this blog will disappear in the near future. But I’ll keep it up for a while longer, so you guys get the chance to see this. And if you want to keep in touch, just send a message or ask or whatever. Doesn’t matter if we’ve talked much, because like any obsessive blogger I’m pretty sure I know most of my followers’ usernames by heart.

And well, if nothing else you’ll find me on AO3, because I literally write 24/7 - be it work or other projects or fics - and that won’t change in the near future.

Man, this is a long post. But. Yes.

I’ve been playing Mass Effect for the past hour, because I wanted to think of a clever way to say good bye. Seems like I end up with “you’re all awesome and I’ll miss you” no matter how hard I try to be witty, though. And yeah. That’s pretty much it. I should go.

Yesterday I was on my way home from a party. As I’m waiting for the train this dude comes up to me and asks for directions. I help him and we talk for a while, and he asks for my number. It’s about 5AM and I can’t be bothered to explain why I’m not interested in him, so I figure, sure, I’ll give him my number and we can have a coffee and I’ll explain stuff. He seems nice enough.

I tell him the number, then I go “shit, wait, I’m not sure I got that right” and I stand there babbling for about a minute trying to decide if there’s four or five 8s in my number. When I get on the train he’s like “hah, well, at least I know you didn’t lie about the number. You wouldn’t have thought about it for so long only to lie.”

And… I just realized. I got the amount of eights right, but I accidentally told him there was two sevens in my number instead of one. I seriously can’t stop laughing.

I don’t have to go on about how awesome the opening cinematic is. Anyone who’s played this game already knows that. What I love about this scene though, is the way Shepard and Kaidan interact the brief time they have together. They just work together so well. The time they have before Shepard leaves for Joker and Kaidan is ordered to the evac shuttles is, what? 30 seconds? Less than that? But there’s so much going on between them. As friends, as lovers, as Commander and Lieutenant… this short scene establish so much in a very short time, and it’s so intense.

Pffft. Like I needed more reason to be heartbroken when it’s all ripped away from them moments later. Repeating “I’m sorry Kaidan, I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry” isn’t enough for this.

I never thought about the fire extinguisher before. It sounds like the kind of thing they’d do; I feel like they have a tendency to find ways to distract themselves in bad situations. But I also think it’s a way of saying “I’m staying with the ship”, it’s a fruitless attempt to keep things under control while the crew is being evacuated.

This is… this is pretty gorgeous, actually. Because it’s a small detail, but it says so much about them.

It’s the cutest thing! I’m still happy about it, so I can’t bring myself to care about how my desk and keyboard is still covered with glitter. The beanie looks like this, and I’m not sure if  I’ll ever take it off <3
